Lottery
AAI accepts all qualified, eligible students as chosen by random lottery and availability of pathway(s) requested. All applicants will receive email notification of an assigned lottery number upon completion of the application to attend Alliance Academy as an Out-of-District student for the 2026-27 school year. A list of lottery numbers and the pathway awarded will be posted to the AAI website by 4:00 PM on November 21, 2025. Students not selected through the lottery will be placed on a waitlist and may be considered for enrollment at a later date based on pathway availability.
Pathway Choice
As part of the application, students will be able to indicate two pathway choices in order of preference. Students who select two pathways will be awarded either pathway based on availability and place in the lottery. Students not interested in being considered for a second pathway should choose that option on the application. Only one of the two chosen pathways is guaranteed for accepted students. Once awarded the chosen pathway, students will not be able to change to a different pathway.
NOTE: Students in the Financial Technology pathway must choose either International Business or Legal Services (Law) as their second pathway. They'll start one of these in 9th grade, as the Fin Tech pathway, which is partially completed through Dual Enrollment, begins in 10th grade.
Student Schedules: Alliance Academy for Innovation is committed to a collaborative learning environment focusing on career pathways and cross-curricular connections, which is best accomplished through face-to-face instruction. Therefore, during the school day, online course options at Alliance Academy are limited and must be approved by administration. In accordance with GA Code § 20-2-319.1, students interested in pursuing online courses can do so by enrolling at their districted high school.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Alliance Academy for Innovation Frequently Asked Questions
What students are zoned for Alliance Academy?
Alliance Academy serves all of Forsyth County GA. Any 8th grader that is a resident of Forsyth County and enrolled in a Forsyth County middle school at the time of application may apply in the fall of 8th grade year to attend Alliance. See below if your student is currently attending a private school or home school.
How are students chosen for admittance to Alliance?
Students are chosen by a lottery held each November. Any student who wants to attend Alliance must apply via the Out of District Request form open each October-November. Application windows vary each year and will be publicized on the Alliance Academy website and on social media. Once a student applies, their academic, behavior and attendance records are reviewed. Any student who is in good standing academically and has not demonstrated excessive unexcused absences or major violations of the FCS Code of Conduct will be entered into the lottery. Click HERE for more information about AAI lottery procedures.
How many students are accepted to Alliance?
We accept approximately 350 freshmen each year, depending on pathway availability.
What pathways are available at Alliance?
Check the AAI website for current pathway options. Students will be able to select up to two pathway options during the application process. After the lottery, students will be notified of which pathway they will begin in the freshman year. Most AAI students complete at least two pathways by beginning a second pathway in the sophomore year.
What if I don’t get accepted to Alliance in 9th grade? Can I reapply for 10th grade?
Students who are not accepted in the lottery in November are placed on a waiting list. If a spot opens in the desired pathway(s) we will contact the student’s family, and they will be added to the acceptance list. We do occasionally allow sophomores to transfer to Alliance in the 10th grade if they are still on the waiting list from the previous year and are interested in an available pathway.
What if I don’t like my pathway and want to change it?
AAI students are expected to finish the pathway they are awarded in the freshman year. Each pathway has three courses, so most students can finish at least two pathways while at Alliance.
Does Alliance have clubs and organizations? What about sports and other extracurricular activities?
Students at AAI can join many clubs, honor societies and organizations, and we have very active CTSO chapters (DECA, TSA, HOSA, SkillsUSA, First Robotics, FBLA). Check the AAI website for a list of current clubs. Our students compete and gain awards and leadership skills through the CTSOs and organizations. Students who want to participate in GSHA sports may do so at their districted high school.
Can students take online courses during the summer and school year?
Alliance Academy for Innovation is committed to a collaborative learning environment focusing on career pathways and cross-curricular connections, which is best accomplished through face-to-face instruction. Therefore, during the school day, online course options at Alliance Academy are limited and must be approved by administration. In accordance with GA Code § 20-2-319.1, students interested in pursuing online courses can do so by enrolling at their districted high school.
All Forsyth County students have the option of taking ONE online course (self-pay) each semester and one online course in the summer. If a student takes a course in the summer and submits the transcript with a passing grade, they will be placed in the next level course. We strongly encourage students to engage in learning experiences outside of the classroom during the summers, i.e., travel, work, volunteering, internships, camps, etc.
Does Alliance offer AP courses and Dual Enrollment?
AAI offers 24 AP courses and many of our students enroll in Dual Enrollment as well. Most of our elective courses are related to our pathway courses. Check the AAI website for the most up to date list of courses offered.
Can students do internships?
Juniors and Seniors can apply for Work Based Learning, where students earn credits for both paid and unpaid internships.
What about taking Health and Personal Fitness before 9th grade? Is that recommended?
Rising 9th graders who take Health and Personal Fitness in the summer will be placed in a second pathway introductory course, as available. We recommend that 9th graders take Health and Personal Fitness here during freshman year as it gives those students an opportunity to meet other freshmen and make new friends.
How do students get to Alliance?
Students may ride their neighborhood bus to their districted high school, and then take the bus to Alliance. At the end of the school day students are bused back to the districted high school and then home. Students may also be dropped off at Alliance and student drivers may purchase a parking pass to park on campus.
My student attends private/home school. Can they apply to Alliance?
Students must be fully enrolled in FCS to apply for an OOD.
From Monday, October 13th – Friday, November 14th, the registration office will process rising 9th grade enrollments for the 26/27 school year if the student currently lives in Forsyth County and is coming from private or homeschool.
Parents who wish to enroll for the 26/27 school year from a private school or homeschool must call the main registration line to schedule this appointment. The main registration number is (678) 947 – 0863 ext. 0.
